The «IMRC-2026 ZAMBIA» International Mine Rescue Competition.
The «IMRC-2026 ZAMBIA» International Mine Rescue Competition, held every two years under the auspices of the International Mine Rescue Body (IMRB), took place in Zambia from April 25 to May 6, 2026.
The event was organized and hosted by the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
This prestigious event brings together the most experienced mine rescue workers from around the world. It is not merely a competition, but a key opportunity to demonstrate the high standards of professionalism, self-sacrifice and courage that define the mine rescue community.
Equally important is that this event provides a unique platform for sharing experiences in conducting emergency rescue operations on a global scale. The exchange of knowledge that takes place here strengthens the international community of mine rescuers and enhances the safety of miners worldwide.
The competition held in accordance with international competition standards, featuring several scenarios and disciplines:

The competitions take place at two main venues: the Kansanshi Mining Plc mining site in Solwezi and the Mopani Central Training Center in Mufulira.
More than 22 teams from around the world participate in the competition, demonstrating advanced mine rescue techniques, emergency response coordination, and best safety practices.
Zambia is represented by four teams composed of representatives from leading mining companies, including Konkola Copper Mines, Lubambe Copper Mine, and NFCA Mining Plc, as well as a host team from Mopani Copper Mines.
