In February of the current year, due to unfavorable weather conditions, as well as the threat of collapse the sides of the sinkhole in the collapse zone at the mine of JSC Maikainzoloto, exploration work was suspended until the conclusion of the expert commission on the expediency of their further conduct.

In April, the shareholder of JSC Maikainzoloto changed the general director of the enterprise and engaged another company to assess the level of industrial safety at the enterprise and to resume exploration and mining operations.

As follows from the Protocol of the work meeting dated June 11, 2024, chaired by the Deputy Chairman of the Industrial Safety Committee of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan (hereinafter – DISC MES RK) Tanabaev M.T. and the report of the newly appointed General Director of JSC Maikainzoloto - Zhursunbaev K.J., the following activities were carried out at the mine of JSC Maikainzoloto:

1. A local trench expansion project was developed in accordance with s/c.1716 of the Industrial Safety Rules for hazardous production facilities engaged in mining, geological exploration works.

2. On 13th of May, mining works were started (to break up the side in the north-eastern part of the slump) to prepare for resumption of exploration works. Round-the-clock works are carried out at the site of the slump, which involve the following equipment: 1 excavator, 2 dump trucks, 1 bulldozer. As of 11th of June, more than 105 thousand tons of rock mass have been removed.

3. A schedule for trenching and prospecting has been developed and provided:

- trench cutting and sinking to the +40-(64)m mark by 21st of June;

- mobilization of excavator equipment at the slump site until 27th of June;

- start of exploration works together with the headquarters of CPH MPERS LLP till 28th of June;

- end of search works till 7th of July.

4. In addition, the D.A. Kunayev Institute of Mining Engineering presented reports on the research work:

- substantiation of rational schemes for the liquidation of the collapse funnel and research of its impact on existing surface structures and mine workings at the mine deposit of JSC Maikainzoloto;

- assessment of possible risks from previously worked-out spaces in order to issue recommendations on the development of a system for monitoring the condition of the excavation massif and on the development of measures to ensure safe mining operations at the deposit of JSC Maikainzoloto;

- development of instructions for selecting the type of fixing for the Maikain «B» deposit.

The following results of the meeting was decided:

1. JSC Maikainzoloto:
1.1. Execute the issued instructions and measures stipulated by the accident investigation act.
1.2 Continue exploration works in compliance with safety measures and industrial safety requirements.
1.3 Inform the DISC MES RK in Pavlodar region on the progress of mining and exploring works. Term of performance - permanently.
1.4 Develop a schedule of activities presented by the Institute of Mining Engineering named after D.A. Kunaev and submit it to the DISC MES RK on Pavlodar region.

2. The Accident Response Headquarters to make the necessary decisions in accordance with the Rules of service of organizations owning and (or) operating hazardous industrial facilities by professional emergency services in the field of industrial safety. Term of execution - permanently.

3. DISC MES RK in Pavlodar region to provide the necessary methodological assistance for the implementation of the above-mentioned protocol items within the scope of competence.
