State-level Competition in Mines Rescue Multi-Event.

From August 17 to 21, 2026, Karaganda hosted the National Mines Rescue Multi-Event Competition for Kazakhstani mountain rescuers from all regions of the Republic who ensure safety in the coal, mining, and petrochemical industries.

Teams from Astana, Karaganda, Balkhash, and Pavlodar, as well as from South Kazakhstan, Aktobe, and East Kazakhstan regions, competed for the title of the strongest.

The competition consisted of three main stages:

- mines rescue operations;

- firefighting;

- mountain rescue relay.

In the individual competition, mountain rescuers competed for the titles of “Best Rescuer” and “Best Emergency Vehicle Driver”.

During the “Mine Rescue Operations” phase, teams wearing self-contained breathing apparatus surveyed the accident sites while maintaining communication with the command post via the “Ugolek” system’s wired network. Rescuers cleared debris using chainsaws and emergency rescue tools, making their way through narrow mine tunnels in search of victims.

After the victim was located, first aid was administered using oxygen-supply equipment, and the victim was evacuated on a stretcher from the contaminated area. Throughout the entire route, oxygen consumption, the duration of exposure to high temperatures, and the composition of the mine atmosphere were monitored. All data was continuously transmitted to the command post.

During the “Fire Suppression” phase, the teams connected a fire hose nozzle to the fire main and systematically extinguished the fires using water, air-mechanical foam, and fire extinguishing powder. The final part of the task involved calculating the required air flow rate in the emergency mine shaft.

The objectivity of the judging was ensured by a panel of judges composed of professionals from various regions of Kazakhstan.
